Sushi

Well, yesterday I had sushi for the first time ever. After we got back from our wander around Riga old town we went to Dinus' friends' house for a get-together party-type thing. The flat itself was absolutely amazing... graffiti all over the place, really run-down but still very homey at the same time.

Shortly after we arrived at the flat four of us headed to find some Japanese food... the logic being that trying it here would be a cheap way of finding out whether or not we like it. If we tried it in England and discovered we didn't, we could be out of pocket by quite a few pounds. Here we each had four pieces of sushi, a fair few cups of sake, some rice/noodles and a plate of tempura. I had egg fried rice with vegetables and a fairly plain chicken tempura. The whole meal was absolutely delicious... easily the best food I've had in a while, and we each came away having spent less than eight Lats each. Impressive deal.

Today most people have gone on a hired bus to tour the country. I've opted out of this because I think I'll better spend my time exploring Riga itself. We're only here for three days and I don't like the idea of cramming things in. So in a few minutes I'm going to head out on my own, get some food and then go exploring the market (which we did yesterday) by stealth. I'm hoping to get way more decent shots than yesterday, which was quite a let-down.

We'll see how it goes :)
