I’ve got this beige coat, right? I’ve had it a little over two years now. I could tell you exactly how long I’ve had it as I was given it on October 3 2003 (the day before my birthday).

About a week after I was given it, the pockets broke. The stitching all came undone and as a result I could store a couple of small Chinese boys in each pocket. Or, alternatively, a lot more packs of mints than normal.

But yesterday was the final thread (if you’ll mind the pun)... the left pocket came totally undone and became useless. Fortunately, Xiaoxiao was bragging to me a while ago about how amazing her sewing had become (although you’d never know, judging by her previous attempts at sewing a button back onto her coat (that I pulled off)) so I figured I could either: a) show her up and laugh at her; or b) get my coat fixed§.

In the end I was actually pretty shocked just how good a job she’s done. The pockets work perfectly now. No holes and really neat, close stitching that should helpfully prevent this problem re-occurring.

§ not really the laughing bit… I just figured it was a good way to get a free coat repairing service :P
