CDs vs FLACs
How is it that despite owning one of the better PC sound cards and having it hooked up to my pre-amp with decent cables, that CDs still sound a million times more awesome than the uncompressed audio files I ripped from them?
There’s a lot to be said for a decent CD player and ‘speakers.
Also, go buy the Guillemots.

Guillemots are awesome. Everyone loves them, the people that don’t are wrong. Although buying CDs is very 1998, it’s all about the subscriptions.

If it was all about subscriptions I wouldn’t be listening to the Guillemots now.

Well, your CD player has nice hardware accelerated 24-bit Reed-Solomon Forward Error Correction.

Hmm, but your average laptop CD drive has better bit correction than your above-average CD player. I don’t think it’s to do with errors in the bitstream, although it could be the funny 48-bit stuff that my soundcard does.
